Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka released participants of the Digital Fighters Alumni Service Programme in Jakarta on Thursday, as part of efforts to accelerate interactive digital learning in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.

“Technological developments are very rapid. Therefore, we must move together to address educational disparities,” said the Vice President in his remarks at the Vice Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta.

The programme represents a strategic government step to bridge gaps in educational access while improving learning quality, particularly in 3T areas and regions with limited educational services.

The Vice President emphasised that the use of technology in education has become a necessity amid rapidly changing times.

Gibran also reminded that digital transformation must be accompanied by enhancements in human resource capacity to deliver real impacts on productivity and open new economic opportunities.

“The use of technology must increase productivity and open new economic opportunities. Use it wisely and responsibly, and continue to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills so that we are not just users, but also innovators,” said Gibran.

On that occasion, the Vice President dialogued with participants from various regions, from Papua to North Sumatra, to explore their backgrounds and assignment locations in 3T areas.

One participant in the Digital Fighters Programme, Theresia Rutisu, expressed her commitment to serving her home region by sharing experiences with the younger generation.

“I emphasise the word service. I want to share experiences with children in 3T areas, because I come from there too. I want them never to stop dreaming,” said Theresia.

Another participant, Gulmog Simbolon, described the programme as a space for real contributions to equitable educational access and efforts to build learning motivation in assignment areas.

In response, the Vice President appreciated the spirit of overseas alumni who choose to return and serve in the regions, emphasising the importance of tangible contributions as a form of responsibility and pride as citizens.

The Digital Fighters Alumni Service Programme is a collaboration between the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) to accelerate digital learning in 3T regions and special areas.

A total of 150 LPDP alumni will be assigned to 150 primary schools in Sumedang, Kupang, North Halmahera, and Merauke for three months to assist teachers in utilising technology and strengthening digital-based learning.

Through this programme, the government hopes to establish a more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable digital learning ecosystem across various regions of Indonesia.
