Kupang (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka encouraged downstream processing and market expansion for local products during his direct inspection of NTT Mart, one of the flagship programmes of the NTT Governor Melki Laka Lena and his Deputy Johni Asadoma.
Accompanied by NTT Governor Melki Laka Lena and his Deputy, as well as the Head of the NTT Provincial Industry and Trade Office Zet Sony Libing, the Vice President directly reviewed a variety of products marketed at NTT Mart on Monday (6/4).
A number of products marketed at NTT Mart range from coffee, ikat weaving, honey, fishery products, to various local processed food products such as moringa and sorghum derivatives, and traditional snacks.
In addition, NTT Mart also offers crafts and fashion products originating from 22 districts/cities across NTT Province, reflecting the region’s cultural richness and creative economy potential.
NTT Mart itself is a local product marketing centre that connects producers, farmers, fishermen, artisans, and business actors with consumers, both at the local, national, and international levels.
To date, NTT Mart has been present in 22 districts/cities, involving hundreds of business actors and tens of thousands of local products. In addition to serving as a showcase for regional products, NTT Mart also forms part of downstream processing efforts to increase added value and competitiveness of NTT’s flagship products.
Downstream processing and market access expansion for flagship local products align with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.
Governor Melki Laka Lena, on that occasion, hoped that all SME actors could consolidate well so that all local products could be accommodated and marketed through NTT Mart.
“I ensure the economic empowerment movement for the community through NTT Mart. Show that the people of NTT are also capable of contributing to the nation through strengthening the local economy by buying local products,” emphasised Governor Melki.
Governor Melki also expressed his hope that NTT Mart could become the main centre for promotion, distribution, and showcase of NTT’s flagship products capable of penetrating national and international markets.
According to him, this visit is part of the government’s efforts to ensure accelerated regional development as well as strengthening the economy and welfare of the community, in line with the President’s directives.
The visit is expected to further encourage the strengthening of the local industrial ecosystem and increase the competitiveness of NTT products in wider markets.
