Vice President Provides Directives for PSEL Development in Palembang, South Sumatra

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the progress of the Waste-to-Energy Plant (PSEL) development on Jalan Keramasan, Kertapati District, Palembang City, South Sumatra, on Thursday, providing several directives for the project. Palembang Mayor Ratu Dewa stated that the Vice President’s main focus is on the regulatory transition and the socio-economic impact on the local community. One key aspect emphasised was the shift in legal basis from Presidential Regulation Number 35 of 2018 to Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2025. This change involves adjustments in financing, institutional arrangements, and the overall acceleration of physical construction. To ensure a smooth transition, the Palembang City Government will maintain intensive and continuous coordination with relevant ministries, agencies, and Danantara. Beyond regulatory issues, the Vice President also highlighted the importance of the project’s impact on local welfare, requesting that education, local employment absorption, and the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises be prioritised. Regarding supporting infrastructure, Mayor Ratu Dewa confirmed he has communicated directly with South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru to prioritise the repair of connecting roads. The physical construction of the PSEL has currently reached 91 percent completion, with a target to finish before the end of 2026. PT Indo Green Power Manager Satriawan Ming expressed appreciation for the solid synergy between central and regional governments and committed to accelerating the facility’s completion so that the economic and environmental benefits can be immediately felt by the people of Palembang.
