Vice President monitors free nutritious meals in Raja Ampat, urges SPPG officers to evaluate SOP

Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has urged officers from the Food Service Nutrition Unit (SPPG) to evaluate the standard operating procedures for meals during his inspection of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme at SDN 2 Waisai, Raja Ampat Regency, on Wednesday.

During the inspection, Vice President Gibran questioned the SPPG officers distributing meals to the students. After receiving explanations, the Vice President found that the MBG menu at the school was cooked too early, raising concerns about damaging the food’s quality.

“Starting tomorrow, change your SOP. You can’t cook that early,” said Gibran.

As part of his three-day working visit to Papua, Gibran has ensured the smooth implementation of MBG at three schools: SMAN 4 Mimika, Yahukimo Christian School, and SDN 2 Waisai in Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua.

On the morning of this visit, the MBG menu served included white rice, soy sauce chicken, fried tempeh, cassava vegetable, and apples.

In addition to ensuring the MBG programme runs well, the Vice President also greeted the students and directly observed their responses to the served meals.

One student from Class 2C at SDN 2 Waisai, Tian, admitted to liking the menu he had just finished. “Yes, I like it,” Tian replied when interviewed separately.

SDN 2 Waisai has a total of 671 students divided into 24 classes, supported by 45 educators and education personnel.

Through this inspection, the Vice President emphasised the importance of the MBG programme’s sustainability as part of the government’s strategy to improve the nutritional quality of Indonesian children, while supporting optimal growth and development for the nation’s future generations.
