Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin, Indonesia’s thirteenth Vice President, attended the funeral prayer procession for the late retired General Try Sutrisno, who passed away this morning on Monday, 2 March due to health issues.

The funeral prayer for the retired General was conducted at Sunda Kelapa Grand Mosque in Central Jakarta. According to observations by Indonesian media on location, the coffin of General Try Sutrisno was carried by eight TNI soldiers and one soldier bearing the deceased’s photograph towards the mosque prayer hall at 11.15 WIB.

Inside the lower section of the mosque, chairs were already prepared for guests attending the funeral prayer procession. Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, dressed entirely in white, arrived and offered his condolences to the deceased’s family members present at the mosque.

The body was subsequently brought to the prayer hall located on the second floor, which was crowded with members of the public joining in the prayers for Indonesia’s sixth Vice President. Alongside national figures who attended the funeral prayer, hundreds of worshippers also participated in the funeral rites.

Following the funeral prayer, the body of retired General Try Sutrisno is scheduled to be transferred for the burial procession at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery after the noon prayer.

House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani expressed her deep condolences over Try Sutrisno’s passing, remembering the sixth Vice President as a warm and humble figure. Interior Minister Tito Karnavian also conveyed his deep condolences over the sixth Vice President’s death at RSPAD Jakarta. Retired General Try Sutrisno was known as a leader capable of bridging various segments of society.

The body of Try Sutrisno was to be buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta this afternoon. Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), also expressed condolences over the passing of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno, who died on Monday.
