JAKARTA — Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Indonesia’s 10th and 12th vice president, met with a number of former ambassadors and international relations experts at his residence on Jalan Brawijaya Raya, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Thursday evening, 12 March 2026.

According to observers on site, the former ambassadors had already assembled at Kalla’s home when he arrived to join them in a room equipped with a whiteboard.

Among those in attendance were former Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Makarim Wibisono, former Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Nazaruddin Nasution, former Indonesian Ambassador to China and Australia Imron Cotan, former Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Hamzah Thayeb, and former Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria and Albania Bunyan Saptomo.

One of the representatives stated that they sought Kalla’s input regarding the current global situation.

The meeting follows Kalla’s recent reception of Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, the previous week. That meeting discussed developments in the current situation in Iran and the possibility of Indonesia’s role in advancing the resolution of the conflict. Iran has expressed hopes for support from the Islamic community, including from Indonesia.

Kalla also noted that President Prabowo Subianto is prepared to serve as a mediator in the conflict if requested.
