Vice President instructs continued aid distribution, targeting independent evacuees
Manggarai Timur, NTT - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has instructed that aid continue to be provided to communities affected by the East Nusa Tenggara earthquake, including independent evacuees scattered across various locations.
During a visit to the evacuation post at Golo Cenggo, Reok District, Manggarai Regency, on Friday, the Vice President said the government had prepared assistance for residents still living in evacuation posts, and registration was also being carried out for those undertaking independent evacuation and not part of centralised shelters.
“I have ordered immediate distribution, especially for independent evacuees,” Vice President Gibran Rakabuming said in a dialogue with residents in Manggarai Regency.
He also asked residents who know people undertaking independent evacuation to help facilitate the data collection of their needs.
“Tell your friends it is better to gather here. Food and medical treatment are all available here,” the Vice President added.
Aid distribution has been carried out by the government since the 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck several areas in the NTT region.
Most recently, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) received a total of 34.38 tonnes of logistical aid from the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) as well as various aid supplies from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
He said the government was also continuing to collect data on houses that were damaged or now destroyed due to the earthquake. In a meeting with evacuees, he asked whether they had registered to receive home repair assistance.
Additionally, during his inspection of the evacuee care tents, the Vice President also ensured that comfort and care continued to be provided to those in need.
“What is the illness? Have you all eaten?” the Vice President asked patients and their companions who had been in evacuation for several days since the earthquake occurred on Saturday.
On that occasion, the Vice President also inspected the Reo Community Health Centre, which suffered damage from the earthquake.
Besides Manggarai and East Manggarai Regencies, the Vice President had previously visited a number of evacuation points and hospitals in Sikka Regency.
