Vice President Inspects Jambi Regional Hospital, Ensures KJSU-KIA Services are Prioritised
Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the health services at Raden Mattaher Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Jambi to ensure that cancer, heart, stroke, uronephrology (KJSU) and maternal and child health (KIA) services are prioritised. Acting head of RSUD Raden Mattaher, Iwan Hendrawan, stated after accompanying the Vice President on Thursday that the hospital hopes the central government will promptly send specialist doctors and the latest medical examination equipment. He said the hospital is currently maturing its flagship KJSU-KIA programme. To realise this programme, hospital management requires encouragement from the central government so that it can be implemented immediately. In principle, as a referral hospital, the Vice President has committed to assisting with the hospital’s needs, such as the development of the emergency department (IGD) to reduce waiting times for patients referred from the regions. Eventually, maternity services, surgery, ICU, PICU, paediatric ICU and integrated operating theatres will all be located within one emergency department complex. The aim is for patients to avoid long queues and receive immediate, thorough treatment before being transferred to inpatient wards in a stable condition. ‘Almost all patient complaints are in the IGD; this will be the focus, including the proposal for our IGD to be integrated. So patients do not have to wait long there,’ he said. He added that if public complaints at the IGD decrease in the future, the hospital will propose upgrading its status from ‘utama’ (main) to ‘paripurna’ (comprehensive). With this status change, services to the public are expected to run more optimally, though this requires support from all parties, including the readiness of medical personnel and proper equipment. ‘If we can provide comprehensive services to the public, we will propose a status upgrade from utama to paripurna,’ he stated.
