Vice President Gibran Visits Ministry of Defence to Pay Respects to Ryamizard Ryacudu

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited the Ministry of Defence. He came to pay his respects to former Defence Minister General (Ret.) Ryamizard Ryacudu.

On Monday, June 1, 2026, Gibran arrived at 10:59 WIB. He was seen wearing a black suit and immediately entered the building.

Gibran left at 11:02 WIB and promptly departed from the Ministry of Defence building.

It is known that Ryamizard Ryacudu is scheduled to hold a lying-in-state ceremony at the Ministry of Defence, led by Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan Taufanto.

Subsequently, the late Ryamizard will be buried at the National Heroes’ Cemetery in Kalibata, Jakarta, in a military funeral.

Ryamizard Ryacudu died at the age of 76 on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in the afternoon while receiving treatment at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Jakarta.

He concluded his military career as Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD) during the administration of Indonesia’s fifth President, Megawati Soekarnoputri.

During the administration of Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo, Ryamizard was appointed Defence Minister in the first cabinet term. When introducing him, Jokowi described Ryamizard as a military figure with democratic and visionary thinking.
