Vice President Gibran urges World Mosque Youth to unite the nation's young people
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasised the importance of the World Mosque Youth’s role in maintaining national unity, especially among the younger generation of the homeland.
“Vice President advised the World Mosque Youth to continue working for the interests of the Indonesian ummah and to remain a unifying force for the younger generation in society,” said President of the World Mosque Youth Said Aldi Al Idrus in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.
This was conveyed by Gibran during a courtesy visit from the World Mosque Youth board at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5).
On that occasion, the Vice President also appreciated the World Mosque Youth’s contributions in cleaning hundreds of thousands of places of worship, not just mosques, as one of the efforts to maintain harmony among people of different religions.
“The World Mosque Youth coordinates the cleaning of houses of worship, mosques, temples, shrines, churches throughout Indonesia, and the Vice President greatly appreciates it because there is a mosque youth group cleaning other houses of worship,” said Said.
Said, who also serves as General Chairman of the Malay World Islamic World (DMDI) Indonesia, revealed that the World Mosque Youth’s vision aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita vision, which focuses on strengthening superior, high-quality, and competitive Indonesian human resources towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
To support this vision, the World Mosque Youth has also initiated the International Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) event.
“This event has been held ahead of the Hajj season for the last 11 years, rotating in several countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Thailand. Notably, this year the international MTQ will be held in Indonesia for the first time, competing for the Vice President’s Cup,” he said.
Said continued, “And we will do this every year, ahead of the pilgrims to Arafah, we recite the Qur’an at Istiqlal, so that there is blessing and prayer for Hajj pilgrims around the world preparing for wuquf. Now we start in Indonesia competing for the Vice President’s rotating cup.”
Said also hoped that Vice President Gibran would graciously attend to officially open the series of events.
For information, the World Mosque Youth is a Muslim youth and mosque youth organisation spread across 31 countries.
Under the guidance of Bahlil Lahadalia as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, this organisation is active in various humanitarian missions, from cleaning hundreds of thousands of houses of worship to distributing humanitarian aid to disaster and conflict areas in Rohingya and Palestine.
In this audience, President of the World Mosque Youth Said Aldi Al Idrus was accompanied by board members, including Vice President Sedek Bahta and Alwi Ahmad, General Treasurer Ali Kamal Smith, and Deputy Secretary Nuansa Rambe, Adam Irham, Sapitra Lubis, Ubaidillah, Liana Piliang, Syakir Daulay, Fidya Faraid, Faradina Ulfa, and Saud Marganda Tampubolon.
