Vice President Gibran Strongly Condemns Pati Pesantren Founder for Raping 50 Female Students
“I strongly condemn the sexual harassment incident against female students that occurred in Pati. Such actions cannot be tolerated. Legal proceedings will be carried out firmly, transparently, and justly,” stated Gibran in his remarks on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
He said that the government under President Prabowo’s leadership places child protection as a priority. Schools and pesantrens, he explained, must be safe and comfortable places for children.
“In the future, supervision and protection of students will be strengthened to prevent similar incidents from recurring,” Gibran said.
He requested that the victims receive accompaniment. “I have also instructed that intensive psychological support and trauma healing be provided to the victims,” he concluded.
Previously reported, police have named the founder of a pesantren in Tlogowungu, Pati, with initials AS, as a suspect for allegedly raping his female students. The victims’ lawyer suspects AS has raped 50 people.
Cited from detikJateng on Tuesday (5/5), the victims’ lawyer, Ali Yusron, stated that the rape case has been occurring since 2024. He said there are eight people who have reported to the police, but the number of victims is estimated to reach 50.
“The reported victims are eight people. Actually, from witness statements, the victims number more than 30 to 50 underage female students in grades 1 and 2 of junior high school,” Ali said.
The suspect AS was scheduled to be examined by police at Pati Police Resort on Monday (4/5). However, until 24:00 WIB, the suspect did not appear at Pati Police Resort.
Police will attempt forced pickup.
