Vice President Gibran Scheduled to Perform Eid al-Fitr Prayer at Istiqlal Mosque

Vice President (Wapres) of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka is scheduled to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer 1447 H at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3).

This was revealed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on Friday (20/3). Nasaruddin stated that the Vice President is scheduled to perform the Eid prayer together with several high-ranking state officials.

“But certainly, tomorrow, insyaallah, here the Vice President along with high-ranking state officials, many of whom will perform the prayer here,” said Nasaruddin Umar, quoted from detik.

Regarding President Prabowo Subianto, Nasaruddin could not yet confirm where the President will perform the Eid prayer. There are reports that Prabowo will perform the Eid prayer in Aceh, but Nasaruddin could not confirm.

“We are still waiting for the final instructions, whether in Banda Aceh or where, I have not received the final instructions yet. But we are on standby here, as assistants, on standby wherever Mr President gives instructions,” said Nasaruddin.

“We’ll see the developments tomorrow,” Nasaruddin said when asked if Prabowo would perform the Eid prayer at Istiqlal.

The Eid al-Fitr prayer 1447 H at Istiqlal Mosque is scheduled to begin at 07:00 WIB. The assigned khatib is the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Prof Noorhadi Hasan, with the theme ‘The Victory of Eid al-Fitr Sowing Goodness, Achieving Blessings’.

The officials for the Eid al-Fitr prayer 1447 H at Istiqlal Mosque include Ahmad Husni Ismail acting as imam and Ahmad Rofiuddin Mahfudz as Badal Imam. The public is urged to arrive early if they wish to join the Eid prayer at Istiqlal Mosque.
