Vice President Gibran reviews progress of MRT Phase 2A, ensures operation by 2027
Jakarta - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the construction progress of the Moda Raya Terpadu (MRT) Phase 2A Harmoni-Sawah Besar station in Jakarta on Tuesday to ensure the MRT operations proceed according to the deadline of late 2027 for the Bundaran HI-Monas route. While touring the MRT tunnel, Vice President Gibran, wearing a light green safety vest and project helmet, was accompanied by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, and PT MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat. “This is a collaborative project between the central and regional governments. Overall, as reported by the President Director earlier, the construction progress has reached 59 percent. By the end of 2027, HI-Monas will be connected and operational,” said Vice President Gibran during a statement at the Harmoni-Sawah Besar MRT tunnel project site in Jakarta on Tuesday. Gibran explained that the MRT construction progress for the Monas-Kota route currently stands at 59 percent, comprising three packages: Thamrin-Monas Station, Harmoni-Mangga Besar, and Glodok Kota. The operational target for Monas-Kota is planned for the end of 2029, allowing the MRT to connect from Lebak Bulus to Kota. “Then by the end of 2029, it will connect to Kota Station. This is truly remarkable progress,” said Gibran. Gibran added that MRT Phase 1 from Lebak Bulus-Bundaran HI already serves 47 million passengers per year. As a collaborative project between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Ministry of Transport, the Vice President appreciated the MRT operations as the government’s effort to realise safe, comfortable, and integrated public transportation. “This modern public transportation is one of the priorities of the President,” said Gibran.
