Vice President Gibran Receives Student Aspirations at Palace, Open Dialogue and Congregational Prayer

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka demonstrated his commitment to absorbing public aspirations by receiving student representatives at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta. The meeting, which took place on Monday (15/6), was a follow-up after the students staged a protest in the Patung Kuda area. A total of 15 students from Bung Karno University (UBK) and Mohammad Husni Thamrin University Jakarta attended to present the results of their critical studies. In a dialogical atmosphere, the students presented in-depth views on a number of strategic policies being implemented by the government. Several crucial points discussed in the audience included the grassroots economy sector, education, and equitable development. Responding to the input, Vice President Gibran stressed that the government does not turn a blind eye to criticism. He views the role of academics and students as vital critical partners in refining government work programmes to be more targeted. “The government is open to criticism and input from the public, especially students, as part of a joint effort to refine various government policies and programmes,” Gibran said in an official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/6). The congregational prayer activity was also attended by the ranks of the Vice Presidential Secretariat and local employees. This marked the end of a conducive series of audiences, where a space for dialogue between the government and student elements was successfully created constructively.
