Vice President Gibran Meets World Mosque Youth, What Did They Discuss?
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming received the executives of Pemuda Masjid Dunia (PMD) at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/05/2026). During the meeting, the Vice President emphasised the importance of PMD’s role in maintaining national unity, particularly among the younger generation. The Vice President appreciated PMD’s contributions in cleaning hundreds of thousands of places of worship, not just mosques, as one of the efforts to maintain harmony among religious communities. “Pemuda Masjid Dunia is the coordinator for cleaning places of worship, mosques, temples, shrines, churches throughout Indonesia, and the Vice President greatly appreciates it because there is a mosque youth group that cleans other places of worship,” stated PMD President Said Aldi Al Idrus after the meeting, as quoted from the official statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat. This vision of PMD aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which focuses on strengthening superior, quality, and competitive Indonesians towards Golden Indonesia 2045. To support this vision, PMD also initiated the International Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) event. This event has been held ahead of the Hajj season for the last 11 years, alternately in several countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, and Thailand. Notably, this year the International MTQ will be held in Indonesia for the first time and will compete for the Vice President’s Cup. “And we will do this every year, ahead of the Hajj congregation to Arafah, we read the Qur’an at Istiqlal, so that there is blessing. Now we start here and compete for the Vice President’s Cup,” said Said. Said Aldi Al Idrus also expressed hope that Vice President Gibran would grace the event by officially opening the series of activities. Pemuda Masjid Dunia is a Muslim youth organisation spread across 31 countries. Under the guidance of Bahlil Lahadalia as Chairman of the Advisory Board, this organisation is active in various humanitarian missions, from cleaning hundreds of thousands of places of worship to providing aid to Rohingya and Palestine. In this audience, PMD President Said Aldi Al Idrus was accompanied by central executives, including Vice President Sedek Bahta and Alwi Ahmad, General Treasurer Ali Kamal Smith, and Deputy Secretary Syakir Daulay. Meanwhile, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming was accompanied by Acting Vice Presidential Secretary Al Muktabar.
