Vice President Gibran meets PERDISKI to discuss strengthening educators' roles
JAKARTA (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka met with the central board of the Indonesian Christian Student Educators Association (PERDISKI) at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday.
Official statements indicated the meeting focused on strengthening educators’ roles in enhancing human resource quality, as well as reinforcing character and spiritual education for the youth.
This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to strengthening high-quality human resource development through education and national character building.
PERDISKI’s Second National Congress Committee Chairman Riovold Yulianto stated that Vice President Gibran urged the professional organisation to take a proactive role at the forefront of national education.
“There was a specific message from the Vice President. We are expected to be at the forefront in advocating for teacher welfare, protection, and improving education quality,” Riovold said after the meeting.
Additionally, according to Riovold, Gibran stressed the importance of continuously improving teachers’ competencies through ongoing training and workshops.
“We are expected to frequently organise activities, such as teacher workshops, conducted intensively. This will ensure educators’ quality advances. While welfare is important, quality must also be prioritised,” Riovold explained.
Also speaking, PERDISKI Chairman Yusak expressed appreciation for the Vice President’s attention to the existence and dedication of Christian religious teachers across Indonesia.
“He is focused on the welfare of Christian religious teachers nationwide and supports efforts to improve their welfare, which is part of the government’s programme to advance religious education, particularly Christian education,” Yusak said.
Also in attendance were PERDISKI central board members, including Third Chairman Lendy Sebastian, General Secretary Efraym Zefanya, and Secretary Bryan.
