Vice President Gibran Meets BEM Nusantara Alumni, Discusses National Development
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka received members of the Ikatan Alumni Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Nusantara at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, 22 June 2026. During the meeting, Gibran urged the alumni to work together to build the nation and state.
This was disclosed by Tommy Suswanto, Chairman of the Ikatan Alumni BEM Nusantara. He said that in the forum, Gibran referred to the student alumni as a strategic partner of the government in strengthening development and bridging community aspirations.
“We are expected to join hands to build the nation and state,” Tommy said in a written statement released by the Vice Presidential Secretariat on Monday, 22 June 2026.
The Ikatan Alumni BEM Nusantara was established in October last year. The inauguration of its central board took place on 18 June 2026. The organisation brings together BEM alumni from 189 campuses across Indonesia.
The meeting also addressed aspirations brought forward by the Ikatan Alumni BEM Nusantara. Tommy said the issues highlighted included the scarcity of Minyakita cooking oil, challenges faced by MSMEs, and the prices of rice and fertiliser.
“Mas Vice President was able to accept everything we intended and conveyed with an open heart, openly, and remarkably,” Tommy stated.
Gibran also encouraged the student alumni to continue conveying the aspirations of the public, whether through letters or various other communication channels. He said his team is committed to supporting and overseeing the implementation of the national development agenda pursued by the government.
