Vice President Gibran: Life Bears Fruit After Eid al-Adha Prayer at Istiqlal Mosque

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the Eid al-Adha prayer service at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. He arrived around 6:30 AM WIB and was greeted by mosque officials and early-arriving congregants. The prayer began at 7:00 AM WIB, led by Imam Anshoruddin Ibrahim, with a sermon delivered by Khatib Hamdan Juhannis, Rector of Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar, titled ‘Strengthening the Spirit of Sacrifice: Caring for Nature and Humanity’.

‘Life that truly bears fruit is like a tree,’ he said. ‘It does not consume its own fruit but gives endlessly. It does not choose who seeks shelter beneath it, yet stands firm to provide shade.’

Following the prayer, the Vice President interacted warmly with attendees, reflecting the spirit of togetherness and brotherhood central to Eid al-Adha.
