Vice President Gibran Invites Students to Review Free Nutritious Meal Programme in Ende
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has invited student representatives from the University of Indonesia, Sanata Dharma University, Pelita Harapan University, Jenderal Soedirman University, and the Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture to join a working visit to Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, Gorontalo, and several areas in Papua. The involvement of students is part of the government’s effort to strengthen oversight and improve the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme and cooperatives.
During his working visit to Ende on Thursday (18/6/2026), the Vice President inspected the implementation of the MBG programme at SMP Negeri 1 Ndona to ensure the programme is running well and to monitor the condition of educational facilities at the school. He also reviewed the readiness for MBG implementation at SD Negeri Wolonomi, which is categorised as a disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) region, and visited the newly constructed Mbongawani Ende Lama People’s Market.
Upon arrival at H. Hasan Aroeboesman Airport in South Ende, the Vice President and the student delegation were welcomed with the traditional Wanda Pere Ende dance. During a dialogue with teachers, parents, and the local community at SDN Wolomoni, the Vice President emphasised that the MBG programme must be prioritised in 3T regions so that its benefits can be felt by those most in need. Through this visit, the government hopes to receive direct input from academics and the younger generation to enhance the effectiveness of national priority programmes in the regions.
