Vice President Gibran Invites Five University Students to Inspect Priority Programmes in Eastern Indonesia
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has invited five university students to join his working visit to eastern Indonesia, aiming to provide direct oversight of the government’s priority programmes. The students, hailing from Pelita Harapan University, Sanata Dharma University, the University of Indonesia, Jenderal Soedirman University, and the Indonesian Arts and Culture Institute (ISBI), were included as part of a public monitoring initiative.
Speaking before departure from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Thursday, 18 June 2026, Gibran stated that the visit would cover East Nusa Tenggara, Gorontalo, and Papua. He emphasised the importance of student involvement in public oversight and expressed appreciation for those who convey their views and criticisms in an orderly manner, providing input deemed beneficial to the government.
The working visit, scheduled from 18 to 21 June 2026, is designed to review national priority programmes in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Gorontalo, West Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua. It also seeks to strengthen collaboration between the central government, regional administrations, and the community, in line with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto.
The first destination is Ende Regency in NTT. Gibran departed Jakarta for El Tari International Airport in Kupang before proceeding to various activity sites. In Ende, he is scheduled to inspect the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), review the development of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative, and engage in direct dialogue with local residents to absorb their aspirations.
The delegation will then travel to Gorontalo, where the Vice President is set to open the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS) in 2026. In addition to attending this national event, Gibran will inspect the Bulango Ulu Dam, a strategic project supporting the food sector and the local economy.
The agenda continues in West Papua, where the Vice President will observe activities at the Ransiki Cocoa Production Centre in South Manokwari Regency. He is also scheduled to open the 14th National Church Choir Festival (PESPARAWI) taking place in Manokwari.
