Vice President Gibran Invites DPR Members to Office Together in IKN

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has spoken out regarding a proposal from DPR RI member Deddy Sitorus for him, along with ministers, to office at the Nusantara Capital (IKN). In response to the proposal, the Vice President invited the PDIP DPR member to office together at IKN.

“Thank you for the input from the Honourable Member of Parliament Mr Dedy Sitorus. Later, we will office together at IKN,” said the Vice President in a written statement on Thursday (9/4/2026).

The Vice President assured that, as a representative of the government, he will definitely office at IKN, where the construction programme has now entered its second phase with a budget of Rp3.1 trillion.

“IKN has been designated as the political capital in 2028, so the organisation of the state, both from the executive, judicial, and legislative sides, must be fulfilled,” he added.

Gibran himself will occupy the new Vice Presidential Palace at IKN. The Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono is optimistic that Vice President Gibran can office at IKN this year.

“Hoping that this year we can already office at IKN because the building (Vice Presidential Palace) is already complete,” he explained.

He added that to date, 50 presidential staff have been sent to IKN for preparations.
