Vice President Gibran Inspects Jakarta MRT Phase 2A Project: Progress Reaches 59 Percent
Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the progress of the MRT Phase 2A North-South Line construction in the Harmoni area, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. During the inspection, Gibran was accompanied by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, and MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat. “Today I inspected the progress of the MRT Phase 2A North-South Line construction; this is a collaborative project between the central and local governments,” Gibran stated after the inspection. Vice President Gibran explained that the progress of the MRT Phase 2A North-South Line construction has reached 59 percent. The target is for the MRT route from Bundaran HI to Monas to be connected and operational by the end of 2027. “By the end of 2027, HI-Monas will be connected and operational. Then by the end of 2029, it will connect to Kota Station,” he said. On that occasion, Gibran also conveyed his appreciation to the MRT Phase 2A North-South Line construction workers. He thanked the 3,800 construction workers who work from morning until night to complete this MRT construction. “In particular to the construction team, the construction workers here numbering around 3,800, thank you for working morning, noon, and night so that the construction progress here can be on timeline,” Gibran concluded. “Thank you also to the Governor and the Minister; this is collaborative work, so to realise safe, comfortable, integrated public transportation, it requires synergy between central and regional governments, including support from the agglomeration area,” he added.
