Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the progress of the Bulango Ulu Dam construction in Gorontalo on Friday. The visit aimed to ensure the completion of the national strategic project proceeds according to plan. The Vice President listened to a presentation from a representative of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) regarding the development of the dam, which has reached 94.99 percent completion. The dam is being built to support flood control, raw water supply, and the water needs of the community. “Where has the existing water supply come from so far?” Gibran asked while listening to the explanation about the dam’s construction. The question was answered by stating that the community currently utilises water supply from the Alale and Lomaya dams. During the session, a number of remaining tasks were also discussed, including the completion of the dam body and the initial reservoir impounding process. Additionally, the need for supplementary budget allocations to finish several supporting works was discussed to ensure the dam can operate optimally. The Vice President arrived in Gorontalo on Friday to inspect the Bulango Ulu Dam. He is also scheduled to open the XVII National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS) in 2026 on Saturday. Before visiting Gorontalo, Gibran conducted a working visit to East Nusa Tenggara on Thursday to inspect the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme at two locations in Ende Regency. The visit to NTT was part of a series of vice presidential working inspections to several regions from 18 to 21 June 2026. After leaving Gorontalo, the Vice President is scheduled to continue his visit to West Papua to inspect the Ransiki Cocoa Production Centre in South Manokwari Regency and to open the XIV National Church Choir Festival (Pesparawi) in Manokwari. On the final day of his working visit, the Vice President will travel to South Papua via Asmat Regency to inspect a number of public facilities, including the Asmat Museum of Culture and Progress, the Sago Field School, Agats Regional General Hospital, and the Holy Cross Cathedral Church.
