According to the Vice President’s Secretariat in Jakarta on Wednesday, Mr Gibran greeted attendees at Istiqlal Mosque, reflecting the spirit of togetherness and brotherhood central to Eid al-Adha.
Mr Gibran performed the Eid prayer with his wife, Selvi, and their two children at Istiqlal Mosque.
The Vice President and his family arrived at approximately 6:31 am WIB and were greeted by the mosque’s management and worshippers who had gathered since morning.
Eid al-Adha prayers commenced at 7:00 am WIB, led by Imam Anshoruddin Ibrahim. The sermon was delivered by Khatib Hamdan Juhannis, also the rector of Alauddin State Islamic University in Makassar, under the theme ‘Strengthening the Spirit of Sacrifice: Caring for the Environment and Humanity’.

He further urged Muslims to use Eid al-Adha as a chance to benefit others and the surrounding environment.
‘A life that fully impacts is like a tree. It never consumes its own fruit but gives endlessly. It does not choose who takes shelter beneath it but stands to provide shade,’ he said.

Attending ministers included Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, and Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf.
