Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has ensured that permanent housing (huntap) will soon be constructed in the South Tapanuli Regency.

The assurance regarding the construction of this permanent housing was delivered by Vice President Gibran during a visit to temporary shelters in Napa Village, Batangtoru District, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, on Friday.

“I ensure that the government continues to carry out its responsibility to accelerate construction, so that everyone receives certainty of a more decent and safe place to live,” said Gibran.

The Vice President, accompanied by the Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, also met with residents of temporary housing from Garoga Village and Hutagodang Village, Batangtoru District, South Tapanuli.

While meeting the community at the site, Vice President Gibran expressed his apologies because, until now, residents still have to live in temporary housing. These residents are survivors of the hydrometeorological disasters that occurred in late November 2025.

A total of 699 permanent housing units will be built by the government on 18 hectares of land, located right next to the temporary housing site in Napa Village, South Tapanuli.

“While waiting for the completion of the permanent housing construction, the government ensures that residents still living in temporary shelters continue to receive a decent standard of living,” Gibrably stated.

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution offered encouragement to the residents who have lived in temporary shelters for several months after losing their homes due to the disaster. The North Sumatra Provincial Government also continues to provide support for the process of providing permanent housing, including assistance to meet the basic living needs of the affected community.

“One of them is here (in Napa Village), so that the community receives certainty that they can live in permanent housing later,” said Bobby.

Eti, a resident of the temporary housing in Napa Village, expressed her gratitude for the housing assistance provided by the government. Previously, she had to rent a house, even though the rental costs were covered by the government.

“We are also grateful because the government is building houses. We thank the government for building our temporary shelter. Therefore, my hope is that the permanent housing is built quickly,” said Eti.
