Vice President Gibran Emphasises Downstream Industrialisation of Cattle Sector in Boyolali
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming emphasised downstream industrialisation in the livestock sector to increase economic added value during his visit to the Ampaslovers’ Sayekti Farm cattle ranch in Pagerjurang, Musuk Subdistrict, Boyolali Regency, Central Java, on Friday.
“Immediately bring in investors to build factories. This is very important. So for the feed factory, everything from A to Z. So there is downstream processing here. From the beginning to the final product, investors must be brought in immediately,” said Vice President Gibran while giving directions to the breeders, quoted from the official statement of the BPMI of the Vice Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.
The Vice President ensured that the strengthening of the livestock sector runs in an integrated manner, starting from livestock health aspects to the development of downstream-based industries. This step is part of the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s directives in strengthening national food security as well as improving the welfare of breeders.
In addition to focusing on industry, the Vice President reminded the importance of vigilance against the spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) which often infects livestock. He instructed the acceleration of vaccination and asked the public to actively carry out early reporting to prevent outbreaks from spreading.
The Vice President advised the Regent of Boyolali to ensure that all cattle receive vaccines. He also asked residents not to be late in reporting if disease cases are found so that they do not outbreak and spread.
Gibran encouraged the local government to immediately explore investment opportunities to build a complete livestock ecosystem from upstream to downstream. According to him, the development of integrated livestock product processing facilities becomes the main key to increasing the added value of local products.
He emphasised that the entire process from upstream to downstream must be completed so that there are no more complaints from residents. The presence of processing factories in the future is expected to maintain feed price stability, open new job opportunities, and improve the welfare of the community in the region more broadly.
Boyolali Regent Agus Irawan stated that the dairy cattle farming sector is the backbone of the local community’s economy. He explained that the Pagerjurang area is one of the centres with the greatest potential in the dairy cattle farming sector which is the mainstay of the residents.
