Vice President Gibran Embraces and Gives Eid Hampers to Rismon Sianipar
Jakarta — Vice President Gibran Rakabuming embraced Rismon Sianipar, a suspect in allegations of forged diplomas attributed to Indonesia’s seventh President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), during Sianipar’s visit to the Vice President’s Office in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026 morning.
According to observations from the location, the two met for approximately 50 minutes in a closed-door meeting. Sianipar arrived at the Presidential Complex grounds at approximately 09.57 Western Indonesia Time and concluded his meeting with Gibran at 10.50 WIB.
Gibran personally escorted Sianipar out of the Vice Presidential Office door whilst engaging in brief conversation. At that moment, Sianipar shook Gibran’s hand whilst bowing respectfully. Gibran then embraced Sianipar.
Gibran subsequently gestured to his staff to bring out Eid hampers and presented them to Sianipar. “You said you wanted to go home to your village,” Gibran said to Sianipar whilst handing over the hampers.
Sianipar received the parcels with evident gratitude. After escorting Sianipar out, Gibran excused himself to return to his office to continue with other duties.
As background, Sianipar is one of the suspects in allegations of forged diplomas involving Jokowi. Recently, Rismon Sianipar apologised to Jokowi and his family following new findings in his research regarding the diploma matter.
