Vice President Gibran Embarks on Working Visit to NTT and Papua, Invites Five Students

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka invited five university students on his working visit to review priority programmes in five provinces. “We will depart for Ende, Gorontalo, and also Papua,” Gibran said before leaving from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Thursday. The five students hail from Pelita Harapan University, Sanata Dharma University, the University of Indonesia, Jenderal Soedirman University, and the Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture (ISBI). The Vice President expressed appreciation that the students had conveyed their aspirations peacefully and with constructive input. Gibran is scheduled to conduct working visits to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Gorontalo, West Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua provinces from 18 to 21 June 2026. The visit aims to ensure the optimal implementation of various government priority programmes while strengthening synergy with regional governments and communities, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives. For the first location, the Vice President departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Thursday morning heading to El Tari International Airport in Kupang, NTT. During the working visit, the Vice President is scheduled to inspect the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Ende Regency, NTT, as well as review the development plan for the Merah Putih Village Cooperative and engage in dialogue with the community. In Gorontalo Province, the Vice President is scheduled to attend and open the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS) in 2026, while also inspecting the Bulango Ulu Dam as one of the strategic infrastructures supporting food security and public welfare. The visit then continues to West Papua, where Gibran is slated to inspect the Ransiki Cocoa Production Centre in South Manokwari Regency and open the 14th National Church Choir Festival (PESPARAWI) in Manokwari. On the final day of the working visit, the Vice President will proceed to South Papua via Asmat Regency to inspect several public facilities, including the Asmat Museum of Culture and Progress, the Sago Field School, Agats Regional General Hospital, and the Holy Cross Cathedral Church. The visit is expected to strengthen efforts to accelerate development and improve the quality of public services in the Papua region. Accompanying the Vice President on the working visit are Acting Secretary to the Vice President Al Muktabar and Special Staff to the Vice President Nicolaus T.B. Harjanto.
