Badung (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka affirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the tourism sector’s quality. “Indonesia has exceptional tourism potential, and the government is committed to continuously enhancing the sector’s quality,” he said in a video opening speech for the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) 2026 in Badung Regency, Bali, Thursday.

Improvements in the tourism sector focus on sustainability, safety, comfort, and authentic experiences to deliver memorable experiences for visitors. However, this is believed to be achievable only through collaboration among various stakeholders, including tourism industry players present at BBTF 2026.

“I hope BBTF continues to serve as a dynamic collaboration platform uniting parties from various countries, delivering tangible benefits for the advancement of local tourism industry players,” said Vice President Gibran.

He also urged tourism industry players to help drive Indonesia’s tourism transition, balancing economic growth with environmental and cultural preservation.

Vice President Gibran believes BBTF, attended by 44 countries this year, will contribute to government targets, as its 12th edition demonstrates resilience, partnership, and shared confidence in Indonesia’s tourism future.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, present at the opening dinner session, added that the government views tourism not merely as destinations but also as a driver of economic growth and job creation. “Tourism also concerns regional development and Indonesia’s confidence in the global tourism market,” she said.

The minister translated the president and vice president’s directives into concrete steps: strengthening promotions, developing quality tourism products, connecting the industry with international markets, and ensuring tourism growth benefits local communities.

Key initiatives include the Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy 2026: From Roots to Global Recognition and BBTF 2026, themed “Redefining Indonesia’s Gastronomy Journey: A Celebration of Taste, Culture, and Sustainable Heritage”, which align with these goals.

BBTF 2026 Chairperson I Putu Winastra assured the international platform would continue to play a crucial role in enhancing Indonesia’s presence in the global tourism industry.

To support more balanced tourism across Indonesia, he invited other provinces to join next year’s BBTF with their flagship tourism packages, as Jakarta and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) did this year.
