Vice President Gibran Condemns Sexual Violence Against 50 Female Students in Pati
Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka has strongly condemned the alleged sexual violence that befell around 50 female students in Pati Regency, Central Java. The number two official in the country emphasised that such actions cannot be tolerated and must be processed legally. “I strongly condemn the harassment incident against the female students that occurred in Pati. Such actions cannot be tolerated. The legal process will be carried out firmly, transparently, and justly,” said Gibran in a press release to Republika in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026). Gibran stressed that the government under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership places child protection as the top priority. He reminded that educational environments, including schools and pesantren, must be safe and comfortable spaces for all students.
