Vice President Gibran Attends Imlek Festival 2577 Celebration on Behalf of President Prabowo
Jakarta — Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, representing President Prabowo Subianto, attended the peak celebration of Imlek Festival 2577 at Banteng Square, Central Jakarta, on Saturday evening.
The Vice President’s presence drew considerable attention from residents who gathered in the area to celebrate cultural fusion whilst breaking their fast during the Ramadhan month.
The Vice President arrived at approximately 20:00 WIB, entering through the access gate near Hotel Borobudur. Dressed in brown batik, he was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, who also served as the event’s chief organiser, as well as Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Stella Christie.
Upon arrival, Vice President Gibran was greeted with enthusiasm by festival-goers enjoying various culinary stalls, artistic performances, and cultural fusion exhibitions. A lion dance performance also welcomed the Vice President at the entrance area.
The Vice President occupied a VVIP guest seat in front of the main stage, seated beside Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo, son of the Indonesian President.
Various representatives from the Red-and-White Cabinet attended the event, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Chair of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani, and Chair of the Regional Representative Council Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.
According to an official statement from the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Imlek Festival 2577 runs from 22 February to 3 March 2026. The publicly accessible event takes place daily from 15:00 to 22:00 WIB, providing a gathering space for diversity at the heart of the capital.
