Vice President Gibran Attends East Indonesia Student Innovation Exhibition

Sekolah Generasi Indonesia Jaya untuk Semua (GenIUS) has once again demonstrated its commitment to cultivating exceptional talent from Eastern Indonesia. Through the annual GenIUS Expo (GExpo) 2026, more than 400 students showcased their research, innovations, and talents to the public. Entering its eighth year, GExpo 2026 took place from 8 to 12 June 2026 under the philosophical theme “Nosce Te Ipsum Et Regete: Know Thyself, Declare Thy Work.” This event served as a stage for children from various corners of Eastern Indonesia to show that limited geographical access is not a barrier to producing competitive scientific work. The opening of GExpo 2026 was made special by the presence of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The attendance of the nation’s second-in-command affirmed the government’s support for equitable quality education, particularly for children from underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. In addition to the Vice President, several high-ranking officials from various ministries and research institutions were present to offer direct appreciation to the students. One of the main attractions of GExpo 2026 was the students’ research focus on the natural wealth of their home regions. The students not only learned theory but also extracted the economic and medical value of local resources. The Director of Sekolah GenIUS explained that this year’s theme emphasises the process of self-discovery. “Behind every research piece and work displayed, there is a long process of children learning to ask questions, think, and discover their role in society,” he said. Participants in GExpo 2026 covered a very wide area, reflecting the diversity of talent from Papua to Maluku. Over five days, GExpo 2026 featured not only an exhibition of works but also plenary sessions, symposiums, art performances, and inspirational talk shows. The event is expected to become a bridge connecting the academic world, government, and society to jointly support inclusive human resource development across the archipelago.
