Vice President Gibran and Ministers Distribute Red Envelopes to Young Lion Dancers at Lunar New Year Celebration 2026

Jakarta – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka distributed red envelopes to several young barongsai (lion dance) performers who featured at the Harmoni Imlek Nusantara 2026 celebration, held at Lapangan Banteng in Jakarta on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

According to observations from the venue, the red envelope distribution took place as Gibran watched the young barongsai performers accompanying a performance by singer Krisdayanti, who sang a song in Mandarin. Following the performance, Krisdayanti invited the young performers to move forward to the VVIP guest tent area.

Beyond Gibran, several other high-ranking officials also distributed red envelopes to the young performers. These included Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Minister of State Administrative Reform Pratikno, and Chair of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani.

Speaking on behalf of the young barongsai performers, Krisdayanti expressed gratitude for the red envelopes distributed: “Xie xie Bapak Wapres (Thank you, Mr Vice President), xie xie.”

The celebration also featured numerous drones that created various formations including lanterns, fire horses, ceremonial drums, the Garuda emblem, and representations of Indonesia’s diversity.
