Vice President Gibran Accepts Rismon's Apology: "There is Nothing, We are Family"
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming received a visit from Rismon Sianipar, a suspect in the case involving allegations of forged credentials of former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at the Vice President’s residence in Gambir, Central Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
During the meeting, Gibran emphasised that there is no further controversy regarding Jokowi’s alleged forged credentials. He stated this whilst embracing and escorting Rismon to the door of the Vice President’s office.
“The point is that we are family, and there is nothing anymore,” said Gibran.
Gibran also presented Rismon with Eid hampers, which Rismon received with gratitude.
“He said he wanted to go home to his village,” Gibran said to Rismon whilst handing over the hampers.
During the meeting, Rismon expressed that he had come to pay his respects to Gibran, the eldest son of Jokowi. Rismon stated that Gibran received him openly and with family spirit. He added that the Jokowi family upholds democratic values despite being criticised harshly by Rismon and other suspects in the forged credentials allegations.
“The openness, the maturity of a family—even though criticised harshly, criticised in ways that were even disrespectful, mocked by myself and others—that is a family which, in my view, upholds democratic values,” said Rismon.
On the other hand, he mentioned that he had previously delivered a personal apology to Jokowi in Solo on Thursday, 12 March 2026. He explained to Jokowi regarding his latest research on the credentials matter.
“In fact, when I visited Mr Jokowi’s home in Solo yesterday, I was surprised. Well, after I apologised for my writing, my research, which I conducted with more recent studies, though using the same methodology, but with more complete data,” he said.
