We aim to ensure education programmes touch areas that have long been hard to access. Digitalisation through modern educational tools must be operable and usable to the fullest by teachers and pupils in the 3T regions.

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming of the Republic of Indonesia is pushing to strengthen technological facilities in remote schools to close the gap.

He notes the importance of implementing modern education infrastructure such as the Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) / Papan Interaktif Digital (PID), which is now extending to Papua and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

‘We want to ensure education programmes touch areas that have long been hard to reach. Digitalisation through modern educational tools must be operable and utilised to the maximum by teachers and pupils in the 3T areas,’ said Vice President Gibran in a written statement released by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikdasmen) in Jakarta on Saturday.

In addition to basic digitalisation, the Vice President also places great emphasis on strengthening high-skilled competencies at the secondary level. This is seen as crucial to respond to global dynamics while optimising the demographic dividend by increasing the productivity of the younger generation.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti stressed that the direction of national education going forward must be able to provide tangible solutions to the country’s various challenges. ‘Our education must be grounded, present among the people, and able to provide solutions to a range of problems. We want to build a generation that not only rises in global achievements but also maintains integrity and strong nationalism as cadres of the nation,’ Mu’ti said.

As a concrete step, the government through Kemendikdasmen continues to collaborate in sending top talents, including professionals and scholarship alumni, to directly provide digital education in Papua, Maluku, and NTT. The programme, Mu’ti said, aims to provide technical mentoring as well as inspiration for students in remote areas.

He noted that they remain committed to accelerating the realisation of equal access to education quality across the entire archipelago. The main focus of Kemendikdasmen at present is digital transformation in the 3T regions and the preparation of a generation of youths with an adaptive character to global dynamics.

This step is a manifestation of the vision of President Prabowo Subianto, which prioritises youth collaboration in improving the quality of the nation’s Human Resources (SDM). Through equalising access to basic services and optimising potential in every region, the government seeks to strengthen the nation’s competitiveness to face global challenges in order to realise Indonesia Maju.
