Vice President Appreciates SRT 9 Banjarbaru for Maintaining Active Learning Amidst Forest Fires
Banjarbaru — Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has expressed his appreciation for the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 9 Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, for actively conducting face-to-face learning safely and smoothly amidst the impact of forest and land fires (karhutla) in the region.
During a working visit to Banjarbaru on Thursday, Vice President Gibran listened to several presentations by the Head of SRT 9 Banjarbaru, Rifki Hakim, regarding the learning strategies prepared despite the forest fire conditions affecting the school’s environment and the health of some students.
“No students were sent home; everyone is healthy, and this is what the Vice President is paying attention to. Alhamdulillah, learning is proceeding smoothly,” said Rifki.
Gibran also showed interest in various student activities, particularly extracurricular programmes, which are considered to play a role in developing the abilities and potential of students beyond their core academic curriculum.
The Vice President advised that school activities should not merely be ceremonial or intended only to fill time, but should be directed towards achieving better results and providing tangible benefits for the children’s future.
Rifki stated that these directives serve as an incentive for the school to continue maintaining the continuity of learning while developing student activities in a structured manner, including sustaining the various achievements attained by the students.
The Vice President’s visit to SRT 9 Banjarbaru is also part of the government’s commitment to ensuring the continuity of children’s education amidst the conditions of forest fires, which impact various aspects of community life.
