Vice Mayor of Makassar Attends APEKSI Working Meeting Gala Dinner in Kendari
The Vice Mayor of Makassar, Aliyah Mustika Ilham, attended a gala dinner as part of the series of events for the Regional Commission (Komwil) VI Working Meeting of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) in Kendari on Tuesday evening (2/6). Held at the Kendari City Hall premises, the event brought together regional heads and city government representatives from the Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua regions. The forum serves as a platform to strengthen inter-regional relations and enhance communication to support the development of Eastern Indonesia.
This year’s APEKSI Regional Commission VI Working Meeting theme focuses on collaboration and synergy in building Eastern Indonesia through community-based waste management and handling. Beyond serving as a networking space, the event allowed participants to exchange experiences and discuss various urban challenges faced by their respective regions.
During the event, Aliyah noted that the APEKSI forum plays a vital role in strengthening inter-city cooperation. She stated that various development issues can be resolved more effectively through collaboration and the exchange of expertise. “A forum such as this is not only a space for coordination but also a medium to strengthen the brotherhood between cities,” she said in a written statement on Wednesday (3/6).
A sense of togetherness was evident during the social session, where attending city governments interacted to expand cooperation networks and build closer communication. The gala dinner also included an exchange of souvenirs between local governments, symbolising appreciation and efforts to strengthen inter-city ties in the Eastern Indonesian region.
Several cities belonging to APEKSI Regional Commission VI were present, including Makassar, Gorontalo, Parepare, Baubau, Palu, Bitung, Tomohon, Manado, Ambon, Tual, Ternate, Sorong, Palopo, and Tidore Kepulauan. Aliyah added that the spirit of togetherness fostered in this forum serves as essential capital for providing solutions to various regional development challenges. “Through collaboration, sharing experiences, and a spirit of togetherness, we can present better solutions to address the various development challenges in Eastern Indonesia,” she concluded.
Through participation in the APEKSI Regional Commission VI Working Meeting, the Makassar City Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening synergy with other local governments. This step is expected to support sustainable development, improved public services, and the strengthening of inter-regional cooperation across Eastern Indonesia.
