Via Sea Route, Dompet Dhuafa Distributes Food Aid to Earthquake Survivors on Palue Island

Dompet Dhuafa has reached Palue Island to distribute 45 food aid packages to earthquake survivors in Nitung Hamlet, Nitung Lea Village, Palue District, Sikka Regency. The team travelled by ship at night from Maumere City and had to stay overnight at a Palue volunteer post before continuing the distribution the following morning.

“The Dompet Dhuafa team in Maumere has arrived at Palue Port; from here, we will rest at a designated location and continue the logistics distribution the next day,” reported Sulaiman Siska from the Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Centre (DMC) from the field.

“And this morning, 1 September 2026, the Dompet Dhuafa team has successfully distributed 45 logistics aid packages in Nitung Lea Village,” he continued.

Visual observations indicate that several buildings have sustained moderate damage, rendering them uninhabitable, with collapsed roofs, broken walls, and widespread cracks.

Local residents have undertaken self-evacuation, sleeping near their homes using tents provided by various charitable parties.

Based on assessments conducted by Dompet Dhuafa, the community is in need of tarpaulins, tents, mattresses, drinking water, blankets, and basic necessities for vulnerable groups. The DMC continues to provide support to accelerate the recovery of earthquake survivors in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“Thank you to everyone who still cares for us,” said one of the aid recipients.

It is hoped that the earthquake-affected communities and survivors can recover quickly and rebuild their futures.
