Veteran golfer shares lead

JAKARTA (JP): Veteran player Hawani Tobing of the Jakarta Golf
Club and Elizabeth Latief of the CGC shared the early lead of the
Madam Tien Soeharto Cup women's amateur golf championship with 69
each after the first round yesterday.

After the first round of the annual event contested for local
amateur golfers for the coveted trophy, today the men's event for
President Cup is due to tee off at the posh par-72 Bumi Serpong
Damai Golf and Country Club, Tangerang, West Java.

Contested over 36 holes of play both the events will go into
the finals on Friday. Twenty five players will battle for the top
honor in the women's competition and 125 golfers in the men's
division will have the right to fight for the Soeharto Cup, now
entering its 26th edition. (rsl)
