Vespa GTS 250 Specs Revealed: Power Comparable to GTS 300
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Piaggio Indonesia has officially launched the new Vespa GTS 250 model for the Indonesian market.
This large scooter serves as a new bridge within the GTS family, bridging the previously wide performance gap between the GTS 150 and the top-tier GTS 300.
Featuring the HPE (High Performance Engine) badge, the GTS 250 has immediately drawn attention. Its engine specifications, on paper, offer performance closely matching the GTS 300 while delivering better efficiency.
‘When comparing performance, engine capacity, power, and torque, the GTS 250 is exceptional in its class. Even when directly compared to the GTS 300, the drop-off is minimal,’ said Irvan on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
The Vespa GTS 250 is equipped with a 249cc, four-valve, single-cylinder HPE engine with liquid cooling. The engine features a bore and stroke configuration of 75 mm by 56.4 mm.
Performance is the main attraction of the GTS 250. The new engine delivers a maximum power output of 16.5 kW (22.1 hp) at 7,750 rpm.
This represents a 43 per cent increase over the GTS 150’s 11.5 kW. Compared to the GTS 300’s 17.5 kW, the GTS 250’s power is only 6 per cent lower, or a difference of 1 kW.
In terms of torque, the 250cc HPE engine produces a maximum of 22.1 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
Compared to the GTS 150’s 15 Nm, torque has increased by 47 per cent. However, due to its smaller cylinder capacity than the 300cc model, torque is approximately 15 per cent lower than the GTS 300’s 26 Nm.
Nevertheless, 22.1 Nm is more than sufficient for agile acceleration in urban settings and long-distance touring.
Designed for long-distance travel, the fuel tank capacity has been adjusted accordingly. The Vespa GTS 250 comes with an 8.5-litre fuel tank (±0.5-litre tolerance).
This fuel capacity matches that of the GTS 300 and is significantly larger than the GTS 150’s standard 6.5-litre tank.
