Jakarta – Vespa has signalled its intention to reintroduce a new model with the i-get 180 cc engine, following the update to the Sprint and Primavera for 2026. The company has indicated that this engine upgrade will not stop with just these two models.

Marco Noto La Diega, Managing Director and Country CEO of PT Piaggio Indonesia, stated that the engine upgrade will be implemented gradually across the entire Vespa product line.

“There will still be other news, because this engine upgrade will be applied gradually across the entire product line,” Marco said during the launch event for the Sprint and Primavera 2026 on Monday, 15 March 2026.

“Looking at the LX previously, it was 125 cc and then became 150 cc. There is still more to come,” he added.

Following this pattern, it is quite possible that models such as the Vespa GTS 150 will receive the engine upgrade. Particularly, the Sprint and Primavera have already made the jump from 150 cc to 180 cc.

“This one (Sprint and Primavera) was previously 150 cc, then became 180 cc. So just wait,” Marco said.

On paper, the 150 cc engine in the GTS has roughly the same power and greater torque than the 180 cc i-get engine in the Sprint and Primavera. The difference in engine tuning and CVT may account for the increased torque.

Should the GTS eventually receive the 180 cc engine, its power and torque specifications are likely to increase compared to the 150 cc model. So wait to see when the Vespa GTS with the latest engine version arrives.
