President Prabowo Subianto extended his congratulations to all Buddhists commemorating Vesak Day 2570 Buddhist Era (BE). This was conveyed in a video broadcast during the main Vesak Day commemoration 2570 BE/2026 on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

“On this Vesak Day, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of myself and the government, extend my warm wishes to all Indonesian Buddhists and Buddhists worldwide,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo emphasised that the spirit of this year’s Vesak could inspire all segments of society to foster national life and governance.

“This year’s Vesak theme, ‘Dharma as the Source of Morality and Wisdom, Love as the Source of World Peace’, should inspire us all to strengthen brotherhood, spread kindness, prioritise dialogue, and maintain harmony in community, national, and state life,” said President Prabowo.

Additionally, President Prabowo stressed that Indonesia is a great nation due to its diversity, yet all Indonesians are united by the shared goal of building a better homeland.

“Indonesia is a great nation because of its diversity. We have different ethnicities, religions, cultures, traditions, and customs, yet we are united by the same aspiration: to build a peaceful, just, prosperous, and harmonious Indonesia,” he added.

On the occasion, the President also reminded the importance of maintaining unity and optimism amid global dynamics.

“Amid global challenges filled with uncertainty, Indonesia must remain steadfast in preserving unity and optimism. We must continue to work hard, support one another, and work together to achieve prosperity for all Indonesians,” the President said.

In line with this, the Head of State noted that the values embedded in Vesak Day hold valuable lessons and serve as a crucial foundation for strengthening the nation’s character.

“I am confident that the values of compassion, tolerance, and wisdom taught in Buddhism will further strengthen Indonesia’s character as a nation upholding humanity and peace,” he stated.
