Very low voltage

From Media Indonesia

On behalf of the executive board of neighborhood unit No. 7 and community unit No. 12 in Pekayon Jaya subdistrict, South Bekasi district, we would like to call on the president director of PLN state electricity company and those within his ranks, particularly PLN head of the Bekasi branch, to pay attention to the very low voltage in our housing complex. Due to the low voltage, some of the stabilizers we use have broken. In some cases, the voltage, which should be the standard 220 volts, went down to as low as only 150 to 160 volts.

This very low voltage has undeniably caused our neon lights, refrigerators and air conditioners to go on and off in quick succession.

On Oct. 21, 2001, we sent a letter concerning the matter to the head of PLN Bekasi office, but the same old problem remains, and is perhaps worsening. We have yet to see a significant change for the better in this power matter.

We do not object to the increase in power rates as long as what we pay is compatible with what we get from PLN. A very low voltage easily breaks electrical equipment, which requires the spending of more money on the repair of these broken instruments.

It is our hope that PLN will take immediate action to remedy the situation.
