Jakarta (ANTARA) - The founder of Jakarta Vertical Run, Fransisca Harlijanto, stated that vertical running events have the potential to become a regular activity in Jakarta, aiming to strengthen the sport tourism sector through the organisation of international-standard running competitions held within buildings.

According to her in Jakarta on Thursday, the concept of vertical running, such as the Geely Jakarta Vertical Run 2026 scheduled for 14-15 November at the Autograph Tower Thamrin Nine, will offer a unique experience for urban runners as participants do not run on roads, but rather conquer building heights.

“That is why I hope that event (Geely Jakarta Vertical Run 2026) can run smoothly and can continue to be held in the future, and can become a regular event for the Jakarta Provincial Government,” said Fransisca.

She explained that the event is targeted to be included in the regular activity calendar under the auspices of the Tower Running World Association, so that its implementation has the opportunity to be connected to a series of international tower running competitions.

Fransical hopes that the activity can become an attractive event for runners in Indonesia, while simultaneously opening opportunities for Jakarta to host sporting activities with international appeal.

According to data from the organisers, as of Thursday (3/9), more than 450 runners from 16 countries have registered. This number proves that vertical running activities can strengthen sport tourism in Jakarta.

Through a concept that combines sport, the challenge of building heights, and an urban atmosphere, she added, the Geely Jakarta Vertical Run 2026 is expected to serve as an initial stepping stone for the sustainable organisation of similar activities in Jakarta.
