Verdict Issued Today for Two Former Subordinates of Nadiem
The Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court has scheduled a hearing today to read the verdict in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management (CDM), with defendants Sri Wahyuningsih and Mulyatsyah.
The two individuals are former subordinates of Nadiem Anwar Makarim, the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology during the presidency of Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo.
“As planned, the verdict will be read on Thursday, 30 April 2026,” stated the chief judge of the panel, Purwanto S. Abdullah, following the duplication hearing at the Central Jakarta Tipikor Court on Monday (27/4).
Sri Wahyuningsih, former Director of Primary Schools in the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Secondary Education from 2020-2021, and Mulyatsyah, former Director of Junior Secondary Schools at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2020, were previously demanded to receive six-year prison sentences by the prosecutors.
Both were also demanded to pay fines of Rp500 million, subsidiary to 120 days’ imprisonment.
For Mulyatsyah, he was additionally demanded to fulfil an obligation to pay restitution of Rp2.28 billion, subsidiary to three years’ imprisonment.
According to the Public Prosecutors (JPU), the defendants, together with Nadiem and several other parties including Ibrahim Arief (IBAM) and Jurist Tan, were proven to have caused a loss to the state finances of Rp2.18 trillion in the alleged corruption case.
This is as regulated and threatened under Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 18 of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes (UU Tipikor).
The amount of state financial loss stems from the overpricing of Chromebooks amounting to Rp1,567,888,662,716.74 (Rp1.5 trillion) and the procurement of unnecessary and unbeneficial CDM worth US$44,054,426 or approximately Rp621,387,678,730.00 (Rp621 billion) – with an exchange rate of Rp14,105 per US dollar.
The loss is based on the audit report on the calculation of state financial loss number: PE.03.03/SR/SP-920/D6/02/2025 dated 4 November 2025 from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPKP).
