Verdict in Blueray Cargo Bribery Case Scheduled for 10 July

The verdict hearing for the bribery case involving Blueray Cargo owner John Field is scheduled to take place at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday, 10 July. Presiding Judge Brelly Yuniar Dien stated that the session would commence at 9.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. The trial process has included the submission of demands by the public prosecutor, the defendants’ plea, the prosecutor’s response, and the defendants’ rejoinder. Prior to the verdict, the panel of judges will study the case files and trial examination results in a closed session. In addition to John Field, the verdict will also be read for Blueray Cargo’s Operational Manager of Custom Clearance, Dedy Kurniawan, and the Head of the Importation Documentation Team, Andri. John Field faces a sentence of three years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rp300 million, with a subsidiary penalty of 100 days in prison. The boss of Blueray Cargo is accused of bribing customs officials with cash, luxury goods, and entertainment facilities, acting together with Dedy Kurniawan and Andri. Prosecutors have demanded a prison sentence of two years and six months each for the other two defendants, along with a fine of Rp200 million, or a subsidiary sentence of 80 days in prison. The three defendants are alleged to have given bribes totalling Rp63.15 billion to several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise to expedite the clearance of imported goods belonging to the Blueray Cargo Group.
