Velodrome-Manggarai LRT Ready to Operate with Improved Facilities
The Jakarta LRT Velodrome-Manggarai route is ready to operate with a number of facility and service refinements. President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) Iwan Takwin said the improvements were made to enhance the public’s experience when using public transport.
“We continue to make refinements, not only in terms of infrastructure and operations, but also in terms of facilities and user comfort,” Iwan said in his statement on Thursday (27/8).
The Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line stretches 12.2 kilometres and serves 11 stations. The route has a travel time of around 28 minutes. Iwan said a number of supporting facilities have been prepared at the stations, including health posts, lactation rooms, drinking fountains, Pos SAPA (Sahabat Perempuan dan Anak), male and female prayer rooms, and waiting seats on the platforms.
Each station is also equipped with lifts, escalators, and stairs to support user mobility, including groups that require easier access. “We are committed to ensuring users can enjoy a more comfortable journey using the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai,” he said.
Refinements have also been made to operational facilities. The operational room, previously located in the road median, is now placed within the station area. This move allows the median space along the Velodrome-Manggarai line to be used for greening.
“This development is part of efforts to deliver mass transport that is not only connected, but also comfortable, inclusive, and environmentally friendly. The presence of the LRT is expected to expand transport options while reducing the public’s dependence on private vehicles,” he concluded.
