Vehicle Volume Towards Jakarta Increases at Cikarang Main Toll Gate During Toll Discount

PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) recorded an increase in vehicle volume passing through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (Cikatama) in Karawang, West Java, heading towards Jakarta during the implementation of a 30 per cent toll discount for the Lebaran return flow in 2026.

Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that on Thursday, 26 March 2026, 21,000 vehicles entered the Cikatama toll gate during the first shift when the toll discount was in effect. Meanwhile, traffic volume at the Cikatama toll gate on Thursday night also experienced a surge.

The 30 per cent toll discount was provided for continuous journeys from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate on the Batang–Semarang Toll Road to the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate on the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road from 26 March 2026 at 00:00 WIB until 27 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB.

“Road users who received this toll discount indeed showed an increase. We continue to monitor the developments because in shifts 2 and 3, there is an evident increase in traffic volume from Semarang towards Jakarta,” said Ria, as quoted by Antara on Friday, 27 March 2026.

In response to the rising vehicle flow, JTT made situational adjustments to the number of operational lanes at the Cikatama toll gate, from 15 to 18 lanes. This adjustment also considered the vehicle flow from Jakarta towards Trans Java, which remains busy.

Ria also expressed appreciation to the public for utilising the toll discount policy.

The implementation of the 30 per cent toll discount on 26–27 March 2026 was aimed at helping to ease the density of the Lebaran return flow. “It is effective; we appreciate the road users, meaning they are willing to come at that time (during the 30 per cent toll discount implementation),” said Ria.
