Vehicle volume on MBZ toll road rises 45.6% during Waisak holiday

Bekasi (ANTARA) - PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) recorded 82,314 vehicles passing through the Mohamed Bin Zayed Elevated Toll Road (MBZ) in both directions on Waisak holiday, Sunday, 31 May 2026. PT JJC Director General Hendri Taufik stated that vehicle volume on the MBZ section increased by 45.6% compared to normal traffic conditions of 56,534 vehicles. ‘This movement indicates continued growth in vehicle volume heading to Cikampek and vice versa via the MBZ Elevated Road during the 2026 Waisak holiday,’ he said. He detailed that 31,362 vehicles travelled from Jakarta to Cikampek, a 34.94% increase from the normal daily traffic volume of 23,241 vehicles. Meanwhile, the opposite direction saw a significant increase, with 50,952 vehicles recorded, up 53.04% from the normal traffic of 33,293 vehicles. Amid the high vehicle volume to and from Cikampek, Hendri urged road users to prioritise safety. He urged drivers using the MBZ Elevated Road in both directions to ensure drivers and vehicles are in optimal condition and have sufficient fuel before travelling. ‘We also urge road users to always comply with traffic signs and field officers’ instructions, including during traffic management measures,’ he added.
