Vehicle Volume Increases on Puncak Route on H+1 of Eid, Dominated by Jakarta Tourists
Vehicle volume passing through the Puncak route was observed to increase on H+1 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, Sunday (22/3). Cianjur Police Resort conducted traffic balancing to avoid vehicle build-up.
The Head of Traffic Police at Cianjur Police Resort, Deputy Commissioner Aang Andi Suhandi, stated that based on field conditions, there was an increase of nearly 70% in vehicle volume compared to Eid al-Fitr day on Saturday (21/3).
“Compared to yesterday, there has indeed been a significant increase in vehicle volume. It could exceed 70% compared to yesterday (Saturday),” said Aang while monitoring at the Segar Alam Police Post I, Sunday (22/3).
The increase in vehicle volume was not only from the direction of Jakarta to Puncak Bogor and Cianjur, but also from Cianjur towards Puncak or Jakarta.
“Increase in vehicle flow from two directions,” he explained.
The vehicle volume was dominated by tourists holidaying at various attractions in the Puncak area up to Cipanas, Cianjur. The majority of traffic flow came from the Jakarta direction.
“From this morning until noon, there has been an increase in traffic flow to tourist spots in the Puncak area. At 06.45 WIB, we coordinated with Bogor Police Resort. The convoy of vehicles from Jakarta to Puncak was already lively. Exiting the toll gate, it already exceeded 3,000 units,” Aang explained.
Aang stated that Cianjur Police Resort carried out balancing at the border with Puncak, Bogor Regency. This effort was made so that vehicle flow could proceed without obstacles.
“Earlier, Bogor Police Resort implemented one way or single lane from Jakarta towards Puncak. Therefore, we from the Cianjur border conducted balancing with traffic flow monitoring and assisted in keeping the traffic from Bogor to Cianjur flowing. Around 12.00 WIB, the tail (of vehicles) was approaching our area, so we conducted balancing by implementing pending or blockades at the Segar Alam Post border,” Aang explained.
Around 12.40 WIB, Cianjur Police Resort applied one direction from Cianjur towards Puncak Bogor and Jakarta. Around 13.00 WIB, the dense vehicle volume could be cleared.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s smooth. We just need to carry out normalisation,” Aang added.
Cianjur Police Resort reminds drivers or tourists to always monitor traffic information in the Puncak area. Monitoring can be done through the Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) or the social media accounts of Bogor Police Resort or Cianjur Police Resort.
“We will inform if one way is implemented. So that you don’t have to wait too long,” he concluded.
